Employer representative in Industrial Relations
The Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation (ARTIO) is an Industrial Organisation of Employers registered under the Fair Work Act 2009. It represents employers and prime contractors in the transport and logistics industry, particularly those engaged in road transport.
ARTIO manages the Industrial Interests, its members being the employers, owners and operators of heavy vehicle businesses in the Road Transport Industry by directly representing the industry before Government and Tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission. We are the peak industrial body for the Road Transport Industry
Recent work includes:
Modern Award reviews
ATO determination on travel / meal allowances
Providing industry specific advice to the Fair Work Ombudsmen
Drafting Enterprise Agreements (EBAs)
Representing members before the Fair Work Commission on matters such as unfair dismissal and general protection claims
ARTIO was directly involved in submissions/consultations conducted by the Full Bench of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) tasked with the Award Modernisation exercise by the Deputy Prime Minister. The AIRC has created the following new modern awards in the private transport industry:
Road Transport (Long Distance Operations) Award 2010
Road Transport and Distribution Award 2010
Waste Management Award 2010
Clerks – Private Sector Award 2010
Cash in Transit Award 2010
These new awards commenced on 1 January 2010 and have a substantial impact on the operations of employers in the transport industry. Along with the National Employment Standards, the Awards act as a safety net for employers and employees are required to meet these minimum standards.
